PRPP Integrated Development Plan
Telkomsigma wanted to expand its business portfolio in Semarang, the capital city of Central Java and selected the strategically located PRPP site for event-led flexible destination.
Telkomsigma. a subsidiary company owned by PT Telkom Indonesia the parent company of the Telkom Group which is engaged in a broad range of businesses which consist of telecommunication, multimedia, property, and financial services. Through Telkomsigma they wanted to review development opportunities through expanding the company’s business portfolio in Semarang, the capital city of Central Java province. Telkomsigma is the leading information and communication technology business solution provider in Indonesia and was specifically interested in opportunities which aligned with its strategy.
The development site selected by PRPP is located adjacent to the city’s international airport with good access to Semarang city centre, the city’s commercial port and the new approved Kendal Industrial Park, a major industrial development project. The site currently provides cultural and recreational activities including Jateng Fair, the largest regional fair in Central Java which attracts a significant number of local and regional visitors which has been in decline in recent years.
Buro Happold Ltd with our Jakarta team and Jakarta Konsultindo (JakKon) were selected by PRPP to prepare an Integrated Development Plan with a focus on how best to leverage investment opportunities in Semarang’s local economy through changes in land use. The proposed development creates a digitally integrated event-led flexible destination which builds on the existing assets whilst adding higher value new uses, all showcasing Telkomsigma’s new products and services.
