Jakarta International Stadium Integrated Development Plan
Jakarta International Stadium was commissioned by the Governor of Jakarta to provide the city with a World Cup standard stadium of 83,000 seats.
Jakarta International Stadium was commissioned by the Governor of Jakarta to provide the city with a World Cup standard stadium of 83,000 seats with exceptional fan experience, whilst creating community facilities, building social cohesion and contributing to the transformation of North Jakarta. The project had to be financially viable to avoid long term public subsidies, sustainable and socially cohesive with the ambition of becoming a benchmark for future urban development projects in the city.
Buro Happold Ltd with our Jakarta team and Jakarta Konsultindo (JakKon) were selected by Jakarta Propertindo (JakPro), a Jakarta Government owned entity to prepare a commercialisation strategy and an initial concept masterplan for the stadium and surrounding mixed-use development. Located between two residential neighbourhoods with high income disparities, the concept masterplan aimed to create a community sports-oriented development that could bridge the physical barriers between the two neighbourhoods and deliver a socially inclusive district, with improving land values. We created a business and operations model for the development and supported the client in developing his capacity and capability to be able to deliver the development.
