UK PACT: Implementation of Integrated Transit and Development Model in the Railway Sector of Indonesia's Cities
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a flagship programme under the UK’s International Climate Finance (ICF) portfolio, jointly overseen and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The UK-Indonesia PACT programme aims to strengthen bilateral climate initiatives by exploring new areas of collaboration in emission reduction and low-carbon development in cities – particularly through transport systems, energy efficiency and carbon pricing. Over the past three years, Techne Praxis International, as one of the current implementing partners of the UK PACT programme, successfully developed the Integrated Transit & Development (ITD) model, working with Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation and KAI (Indonesia’s National Railway Company) to support local policymaking and pilot green transport projects in the Kedungsepur Metropolitan Area (KMA), also known as Greater Semarang. This project is further extended to cover a scoping study for low-carbon transit in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
